Showcasing some of the most beautiful and enduring classics for violin and piano performed by Ireland’s most distinguished sister duo, Fionnuala and Una Hunt. The programme includes magnificent repertoire by Brahms such as his haunting second sonata and showpieces, FAE scherzo and Hungarian Dance. Also, the old Viennese charm of the great Fritz Kreisler and music by Irish composers, Hamilton Harty and Charles V. Stanford along with a selection of
beautifully evocative Irish airs, including ‘The Lark in the Clear Air’ arranged by Una’s father-in-law, Irish composer T.C. Kelly. This was the theme tune for Ciarán Mac Mathúna’s long running Sunday morning radio programme ‘Mo Cheol Thú’ where interpretations from the Hunt sisters were among his most popular requests. Fionnuala and Una Hunt have enjoyed very distinguished individual careers and have played chamber music together from an early age. As a duo they perform throughout Ireland and in Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Great Britain and America where they featured on a nationally-syndicated radio programme broadcast to 50 million listeners across the USA by National Public Radio.
