Ivor Novello was the quintessential 20th Century Man: composer, impresario, stage actor, Hollywood star. His songs were the soundtrack to the war years and are some of the finest compositions in the catalogue of 20th century music. Join soprano Sandra Oman, tenor Richard Shaffrey, baritone Simon Morgan, and pianist David Wray, in the atmosphere of Novello’s drawing room, as they reminisce about the exotic life of the great man and hear them perform his most beloved songs: We’ll Gather Lilacs, Keep the Home Fires Burning, Waltz of my Heart, My Dearest Dear, And her Mother came too, My Life Belongs to You, Fold Your Wings, Shine through my Dreams, Someday my Heart will awake, Rose of England. Step back into the 1930s for a lunchtime celebration of one of the most popular entertainers of the early twentieth-century.
