The New Café Orchestra will bring its new sound this August 31st in a captivating show at the The Lark Concert Hall.
Get ready for a very special night of musical celebration, as The New Café Orchestra will be launching an electric chapter in its musical legacy at the The Lark Theatre Ballbriggan, on the 31st August 2024.
The musical collective, which began its journey by thrilling audiences as The Café Orchestra in the 1990s, will be bringing its new sound, which celebrates and explores Jazz, World and Folk music, whilst carrying-on the musical legacy of the late great Pat Collins.
After honing their new sound with concerts in Catalonia and tours in Eastern Europe, this performance will explore the new musical soundscapes that this unique ensemble has perfected. It features the violin sounds of Oleg Ponomarev (co-founder of the legendary world-renowned trio Loyko and world music trio Koshka), combined with the stunning guitar strings of Drazen Derek (original Café Orchestra player, Niels Pedersen, Carlos Nunez, The Chieftains) evoke Reinhardt and Grappelli. The musical genius of renowned accordionist Dermot Dunne combined with Ireland’s top international jazz saxophonist Richie Buckley (Van Morrison), adds to the exciting line-up of talent on what will undoubtedly be a stunning evening of a launchpad.
The mesmerising sensitivity and tones of vocalist Simon Morgan allow full exploration of these possibilities, whilst the voice, stagecraft and theatricality of vocalist Lou van Laake brings together, what will be, a captivating and engaging show.
With Irish jazz legend Cormac O’Brien (Louis Stewart, Mary Coughlan, Yurodny, Bobby Watson, Ernie Watts) leading the rhythm section on double bass, and a host of special guests, this night will be full of beautiful sounds that celebrate the joy of music and collaboration.
